Traditional (Metal) Braces

More comfortable than ever before, traditional metal braces remain the most common type of braces that orthodontic dental treatment provides. Metal braces utilize high-grade stainless steel metal brackets and arch-wires to straighten teeth. Metal braces provide the option of adding brightly colored elastic, rubber bands that will provide a unique and colorful smile.

Clear (Ceramic) Braces

Less visible on your teeth than metal braces, ceramic braces are comprised of clear materials. Older teenagers as well as adult patients who have aesthetic concerns, are primary candidates for the application of ceramic braces. Although ceramic braces are less prominent visually than metal braces, ceramic braces require additional attention to proper oral hygiene as compared to metal braces. This is because ceramic braces are both larger and more brittle than the metal brace counterpart. Consequently, ceramic braces are normally utilized more on the upper front teeth rather than on the lower teeth.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners will straighten teeth like metal and ceramic braces. However, clear aligners are comprised of a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable acrylic trays. Clear aligners are both invisible as well as removable by the wearer. Consequently, the patient who has been prescribed clear aligners can eat as well as drink whatever they would like during the entire course of treatment. Proper oral hygiene by way of routine brushing and flossing are much less of a hassle compared to metal as well as ceramic braces. Clear aligners are also quite comfortable to wear. This is because clear aligners are not comprised of metal which can cause tenderness and mouth abrasions during treatment.
